Metallica To Screen First Concert Of 2020 At Drive-Ins Across The U.S. And Canada

Metallica will make their long-awaited return to the stage this month as part of the Encore Drive-In Nights series, screening their first concert of 2020 at hundreds of drive-ins and outdoor theaters across the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 29.

The thrash metal titans will become the first non-country act to participate in the series, following successful drive-in showcases from Garth Brooks and Blake Shelton, with the former drawing 350,000-plus fans to more than 300 venues across North America. As with those shows, participating venues will adhere to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines, including outfitting staff with personal protective equipment and maintaining at least six feet of space between cars.

Metallica will record the concert at an undisclosed location near their Northern California home. It will mark the band’s first performance since they partnered with the San Francisco Symphony last September to record their S&M2 concerts across two sold-out nights at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Tickets to the Encore Drive-In Nights gig cost $115 per carload, which admits up to six people. Post-grunge rockers Three Days Grace will “open” the show.

Nearly 40 years after releasing their debut album Kill ‘Em All, Metallica is still capable of commanding stadium-sized crowds and selling millions of albums. Their 1991 self-titled album (commonly known as the Black Album) has been certified 16x platinum by the RIAA and remains the bestselling album in Nielsen Soundscan history. Last year’s S&M2 concert film became the biggest global rock event cinema release of all time, pulling in more than $5.5 million from over 3,700 cinemas around the world.

Expect that hot streak to continue when Metallica releases their S&M2 live album on Aug. 28. Each ticket to the Encore Drive-In Nights concert will come with four digital downloads of S&M2, which should give the album a huge boost on the Billboard 200 in its first week. The original S&M album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 in 1999 and has since been certified 5x platinum by the RIAA.

What’s a Rich Text element?

The rich text element allows you to create and format headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, images, and video all in one place instead of having to add and format them individually. Just double-click and easily create content.

Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
